Dec 23, 2020Elkhorn Creek PhaseI Water Project Now Under Construction
The Elkhorn Creek Phase I Water Project includes the construction of a water treatment facility and water storage tank as well as the distribution system from the Mercer County line through the community of Elkhorn. The Elkhorn Creek Phase II Water Project will include extending water lines from the end of Phase I in Elkhorn through the communities of Upland, Powhatan, and Kyle. The current system in this area will be completely replaced and the 112 customers will be served by the plant at Maybeury. In addition to replacing this system, Phase II will also replace the existing water systems operated by the Town of Northfork and the City of Keystone which amounts to 264 new customers for McDowell County PSD. In addition to the waterline extension, the Phase II scope also includes providing a second water source for the Maybeury Water Treatment Facility. Specifically, the project is comprised of approximately 15,540 LF of 10” waterline, 15,060 LF of 8” waterline, 16,980 LF of 6” waterline, 19,320 LF of 2” waterline, and 52 fire hydrants
